So often, we lose the sense of wonder that comes along with the story of Jesus' time on earth. The God of the universe wrapped Himself in sinew and muscle to draw as near to us as He possibly could and to love us to death. This 40-day devotional is designed to get us back to basics - to re-read the stories we have begun to skip over or think we know so well that we couldn't possibly learn anything more from. Each day, you'll be asked to reflect on what you already know about a story (if it's nothing, that's okay!); to read the text from the Bible; to notice something new about the story; and to read a portion of the same text, straight from the pages of a children's Bible. The goal is to REDISCOVER the wonder of Jesus' gigantic love for us. It seems so simple, and yet for some reason, we make it so complicated.
God loves us. Let's spend this season remembering how much.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14
What do you think you already know about the creation story?
Read Genesis 1-2.
What is one thing you read that you’d never noticed or known before? How does it change the story for you?
"God looked at everything he had made. “Perfect!” he said. And it was.
But all the stars and the mountains and oceans and galaxies and everything were nothing compared to how much God loved his children. He would move heaven and earth to be near them. Always. Whatever happened, whatever it cost him, he would always love them.
And so it was that the wonderful love story began…"
What does this story have to say about how much God loves you?
