So often, we lose the sense of wonder that comes along with the story of Jesus' time on earth. The God of the universe wrapped Himself in sinew and muscle to draw as near to us as He possibly could and to love us to death. This 40-day devotional is designed to get us back to basics - to re-read the stories we have begun to skip over or think we know so well that we couldn't possibly learn anything more from. Each day, you'll be asked to reflect on what you already know about a story (if it's nothing, that's okay!); to read the text from the Bible; to notice something new about the story; and to read a portion of the same text, straight from the pages of a children's Bible. The goal is to REDISCOVER the wonder of Jesus' gigantic love for us. It seems so simple, and yet for some reason, we make it so complicated.
God loves us. Let's spend this season remembering how much.
Tower of Babel
What, if anything, do you think you already know about the Tower of Babel?
Read Genesis 11
What is one thing you read that you’d never noticed or known before? How does it change the story for you?
"You see, God knew, however high they reached, however hard they tried, people could never get back to heaven by themselves. People didn’t need a staircase; they needed a Rescuer. Because the way back to heaven wasn’t a staircase; it was a Person.
People could never reach up to Heaven, so heaven would have to come down to them.
And, one day, it would."
What does this story have to say about how much God loves you?
