For the City
Serving Baltimore is core to who we are as a church. We host two major serving events each year and facilitate various other serving opportunities throughout the year. Each of our Neighborhood Groups observe regular rhythms of service through various projects. Each year, we send teams on at least two Experience Trips, one domestic and one international so participants can experience what it looks like to live life on mission in other places and serve alongside partner churches.
Each Spring, we partner with Generosity Feeds to host Feed More B'more where hundreds of volunteers come together to purchase and create thousands of pre-made meals for hungry kids in our city. All of the food is donated to the Maryland Food Bank, who donates it to school children through their backpack program.
Each Christmas we collect donations of brand new toys. We then use those toys to open a pop-up shop in Southwest Baltimore where the toys are significantly discounted so every parent has the opportunity to buy presents for their family for Christmas. Our hope is that by letting parents pick out and buy presents, they will get the dignity and joy that comes from knowing they were able to provide themselves.
We believe that, as Christians, we are all called to live our lives on mission where we are everyday. Yet, there is value in traveling to other places to learn how Christians there are living life on mission and serving alongside them for a short period of time. Each year, we send teams on at least two Experience trips, one domestic and one international.
In 2019, we are sending a team to work with refugees in Greece
