READING Genesis 6:11-22 and 8:20-22
We serve a God who knows our hearts – knows them better than we know them ourselves. Even though He knows that the condition of our heart is to stray from Him, He makes a covenant with Noah and his family to promise His eternal faithfulness to us, the unfaithful. His love for us is greater than our weakness and wandering. Not only does He commit Himself to a permanent covenant, but because He knows we are prone to forget, He gives us a symbol of the promise, as well – not so that He will remember, but so that we will not forget.
